I Gabriel Coley of the County of Wayne and State of North Carolina being weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God caling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say {my just debts first paid} First I leave unto my beloved wife the use of the land and plantation whereon I now live and also the land and plantation lying on Narehunty (Nauhunty?) that formley belonging unto John Bardin, one mare saddle and bridle by the name of trap three cows two yearling eight ews loom and gear all my citchen furniture all my working tools one blew chest all my sider casks two jugs two sows and thirteen pigs two feather beds and furniture two wheals one pair of cards one cart and wheel and as much meel fat corn and wheat as will be sufficent for one year, one meal sifter also one hndred dollars to be put to the use of finishing my dwelling house my will and desire is that my beloved wife shall have the use of the above mentioned artickles during her natural life or widowhood and to rase (raise) my five yongest children to wit John Alford, William Alford, Salley Coley, Gabriel Coley and Cortney Coley also my will is that my beloved wife shall not rent nor sell her right in the land for more than one year at a time also I leave my beloved wife my gun as the above mentioned artickles also I leave her the use of one mare by the name of nance for to tend this crop and no longer. I give and bequeath unto my beloved son Gabriel Coley the land and plantation whereon I now live containing one hudred acres be the same more of less and sixty six dollars and sixty seven cents to him his heirs and assigns for ever. I give and bequeath unto my eleven beloved sons equally to wit: Rolen Alford, Turner Coley, Nedham Alford, Dolison Coley, Keadin Coley, Wiet Alford, Firney Alford, Jasenth Alford, Handy Alford, John Alford, William Alford, my land and plantation lying on Mockison bought of Benjamin Persons containing one hundred and fifty acres be the same more or less, also my land and plantation lying on the slew bought of William Peacock containing one hundred acres be the same more or less, also the land and plantation lying on Nauhunty that formley belonged unto John Bardin containing one hundred and sixty acres be the same more or less to them their heirs and assigns forever. I give and bequeath equally unto my four beloved daughters to wit Piety Alford, Patsy Coley, Kiziah Coley & Betsay Coley one hundred dollars and fore feather beds to them their heirs and assigns forever. I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Salley Coley sixty six dollars and sixty seven cents to her and her heirs and assigns for ever. I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Cortney Coley sixty six dollars and sixty seven cents to her and her heirs and assigns for ever. I give and bequeath unto my beloved son Handy Alford sixty dollars to him and his heirs and assigns for ever. My will and desire is that all my movable estate that I have not allready given away to be sold and equally divided among my fifteen beloved children to wit Rolin Alford, Turner Coley, Nedham Alford, Dolison Coley, Readin Coley, Wiet Alford, Firney Alford, Jasenth Alford, Handy Alford, John Alford, William Alford, Piety Alford, Patsey Coley, Kiziah Coley, & Betsay Coley. Also my will is that the movable estate that I have all ready given unto my beloved wife at her death or marriage be sold and the money equally divided among my three yong children to wit Salley Coley Gabriel Coley & Cortney Coley. Also my will is that my son Gabriel Coley to be kep (sent?) to school until he receive reasonable education.
