State of North Carolina Wayne County To all persons to hoom (sic) this Shall Concern: I being weak of Body but of Sound and perfect Memory thought it expedient to Settle my Worldly affairs in Manner & form as followeth (Viz) My Will and desire is that all my just debts be Settled by my Executors hereafter Named; I give and bequeath unto my Grand Son Joab Padgett one Bed bedstead and furniture; Also one other Bed bedstead and furniture to my Grand Son John Padgett; and one other Bed bedstead and furniture to my Grand Daughter Sally Padgett after their Grandmothers death; the Balance of my property wherever to be found I give and bequeath to my Wife Sarah Cook during her natural life but after her death I leave it to be sold and the Money Equally Divided between my four Grand Children namely, Joab, Elizabeth Sally & John Padgett; Lastly I Nominate and appoint Joseph Hollowell Sen. and Stephen Cook Sen. Excrs to this my last Will and Testament in Witness hearof (sic) I set my hand & Seal this 3rd day of October 1817. (Signed) John Cook (Seal) Test.
