Called March one thousand seven hundred and ninety five, I Robert Cox of the County of Wayne in the state of North Carolina being in my senses in sound mind and memory but being sick and remembering the mortality of my body do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following Imprimis, I lend to my beloved wife my plantation during her widowhood, I also give and bequeath her forever my horse, one cow or yearling, one feather bed and furniture, one sow and six shoats also flour otherwise last summer pigs I also give her seven pound spice also one of my best sides of leather also any meat and corn wheat and rye that is growing on the land, also my hogs lard also all my peas and fodder also my kitchen furniture the whole of it also my plantation tools, in case my wife is with child I give and bequeath to that other heir and assigns forever my land but for lack of such issue, I leave my (illegible) to my brothers Richard, Smithson Cox (missing) forever my plantation also to Sarah, Phebe and Elizabeth and Ann Cox, Jonah Cox one hundred and fifty pounds to be equally divided among them. I give to my sister-in-law Mary Ann Moore one heifer called Kaspy the remainder of my personal property in case my wife is with child I give and bequeath to that heir forever. But for lack of such issue, I give and bequeath the same to my wife and her sister sisters, Mary Ann and Betsy Ann. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand a hand and affixed my seal the day and date within written.
