All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Linda Harmon trekkergen@gmail.com August 15, 2015, 12:06 pm Source: Raleigh State Archives, North Carolina Written: October 28, 1816 Recorded: August 6, 1818 WILL OF THOMAS COX Thomas Cox of the County of Wayne in the State of North Carolina remembering the mortality of my body do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, Imprimis I give and bequeath to my beloved wife two cows and calves five sows and pigs a horse called ball one riding cart one half dozen puter plates two dishes two basons two pots two thousand weight of pork forty barrels of corn thirty bushels of wheat all my fodder one chest I further lend her three spinning wheels six beds and furniture my plantation tools all during her widowhood. ITEM: I give and bequeath my sons, James Stanton and Nathan and Thomas Bishop all my lands them and their heirs and assigns forever to James my lands on falling creek to Nathan my land up Naughunty to Stanton and Thomas Bishop my land where I live to be equally devided between them and if ither of my sons should die under age my land on Naughunty I leave to be sole and the proceeds thereof to be equally devided amongst my daughters, James Stanton and Thomas Bishop each of them to you Nathan three hundred dollars to be paid when of age or give a note with interest to James I give one shot gun one saddle and bridle to Stanton one horse called demont I give one horse called derrick also to my children James Avis Ruth and Penninnah each of them a feather bed and furniture also to Avis I give one saddle one other saddle I leave to Ruth and the rest of my children my other feather beds after their mother’s lent is out or the value of them. ITEM: The remainder of my property I leave to be sold and the price thereof equally devided amongst my daughters and their mother after my just debts are paid. I also lend to my wife dureing widowhood my land where I live. And lastly I do nominate and appoint my brother, John Cox and Micajah Cox executors to this my will in witness whereof I have hereuto set my hand and affixed my seal this 28th of the 10th month 1816.
