Wayne County, NC - Will of Daniel Deans Senr (April court 1789) File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by William S (Chip) Pate, Jr In the name of God amen I Daniel Deanes of the state of North Carolina Wayne County being poorly and weak in body but in perfect mind and memory thanks be given to all mighty God for the same knowing and calling to mind that it is appointed for all men once to die I do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner following and form as follows that is to say first perticular I commend my sole in to the hands of all mighty God hoping through merrits I dooth and favor of my Lord and savior Jesus Christ to have full and free hand and forgiveness of all my sins and my body I commit to the clay to be decently buried at the discression of my executors hath pleased all mighty God to bestow upon me. I gave the said despose as follows First I will that all my just debts funeral charges and discharge [End of sentence on the transcript.] Item I lend to my well beloved wife during her life or widowhood the plantation where on I now live and all my household furniture and all the working tooles my carpenter tooles and tinkers tooles excepted and blacksmith tooles excepted and all my lifestock I lend to my dear beloved wife ondly four hed of sheep apiece to my son Dempsey and James. Item I gave and bequieve unto my son Dempsey a certain track of land containing 275 acres more or less lying in Nash County. Item I give and bequieve unto my son James Danniell Bartley George and John Deanes all my land that I hold in Wayne County and all my tooles that is before excepted to be equally divided between my six sons. Item I gave and bequieve unto my sons Daniell Bartholomew George and John on bed a piece. Item I gave and bequieve unto my daughters Sarah Elizabeth Tarlisha and Lydia all my livestock after the disease of my wife to be equally between them and all likewise my household furniture after my wifes disease also Dempsey Deans and James Deanes executors. March the 24th 1789 There came James Davis and Arhelaus Howell before me Justice of the Peace for Wayne County and made oath on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God that the above legeses was given by Daniel Deans Senr and that he was in his proper senses at the same time. his James (X) Davis mark Sworne before me John Handley, J.P.
