  In the name of God Amen. I JULIA JERUSHA V. GARRISS of the county of 
Wayne in the State of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory and
considering the uncertainty of this mortal life, do make and publish 
this my last will and testament in manner and form following.
  I lend to my husband JONATHAN GARRISS during his natural life, all of 
the property I now possess and all the property I may become heir to, 
and at the death of JONATHAN GARRISS my husband I give and bequeath the 
same to his lawful heirs and to their heirs and assigns. Signed and 
sealed this 22nd day of January 1881.       Julia J V Garriss  Seal
