Wayne County, NC - Will of John Harris, 1824 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In the name of God Amen I JOHN HARRIS of the County of Wayne and State of North Carolina being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make this my last will and testament FIRSTLY I give and bequeath to my son JOHN five shillings having Already given him all I intended to. SECONDLY I give and bequeath to my son WILLIAM fifty dollars at the death or marriage of my wife SUKEY. THIRDLY I give and bequeath to my seven daughters, PENNY, BETSEY, NANCY, RACHEL, SALLY, SUSAN & EDITH a tract of land containing 100 acres more or less lying and being in the County of Duplin which land I purchased from Basil Kornegay. FOURTHLY I lend to my beloved wife SUKEY during her widowhood the residue of my property not before disposed of after my just debts shall be paid for the support of herself and children except my son JOHN. FIFTHLY After the death or marriage of my wife SUKEY I will that all the property loaned to her during her widowhood be sold and the monies arising therefrom together with any monies that may be due me be equally divided among my seven daughters PENNY, BETSEY, NANCY, RACHEL, SALLY, SUSAN & EDITH.
