Wayne County, NC - Will of David Jernigan - 1795 File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Deborah Young DAVID (Otherwise known as Lame David) JERNIGAN OF WAYNE CO., NORTH CAROLINA - Will Book Pages 539-540 In the name of God Amen, I (David Jernigan) of the State of No. Carolina and County of Wayne being sick but of sound mind and disposing memory Blefsed by god Calling to mind the Grate Mortality and for, the better Settling of my Temporal affairs do make and ordain this My Last will and Testament In Manner and form following to wit.-- First of all I recommend my sould to God who Give it and next my body to the Ground to be Buried in a Descent manner at the direction of my Executors nothing doulbling but at the General Resurrection I shall Revive the Same again by the mighty Power of God--and as to my worldly Estate wherewith it hath Pleased God to Blefs me With in this life I give and Dispose of the same in Manner and form Following that is to Say First I give and bequeath to my beloved Son Josiah Jernigan Three hundred Acres of Land More or Lifs Situated thus Biginning on the back line of the old patent where it Crofses Momans iland branch then down the said branch to white oak a Corner made and agreed upon before witnefses Chosen for that purpose Thence along a Marked line in prisence of said witnefses To a white oak on the first line of Said pattent thence along Said line to the mouth of Little River the beginning of said patent and all that part of My Land Lying South and West of the above mentioned Legacy and two Negroes Fellows by the Name of Tom and Arch and one negro woman by the name of Bak with Every other property which I have given him from time to Time.- Item that I give to my beloved Daughter Charity Thompson One Negro boy by the name of Charles and Fifty pounds Thence and all other property which I have given her from time to time. Item that I give my beloved Daughter Elizabeth Pate one negro boy by the name of ______ (unable to decipher name) and forty pounds Thence and all other property which I have Given her from time to time. Item that I give to my beloved Daughter Sightly Ammons one negro woman by the name of Fan and her Finance and also one negro Girl by the name of Amy and all other propety which I have Given her from time to time. Item that I Give to my Grand Daughter Edith Thompson Jernigan Twenty pounds Thence one Feather Bed and Furniture and one Cow and Calf. Item that I Give to my Beloved Son Silas Jernigan Three hundred Acres of Land Containing the Plantation whereon I now live which is the mannor Plantation and three Negroes By the name of Charles Lonnon and Hanner with all the Horses Cattleshogs and Stock of Every kind after the Sum of Ninety pounds being made by my Executors to pay up the Living of Charity Thompson and Elizabeth Pate out of the said Stocks and also all my house hold Furniture and working Tools and also Two Lots in the Town of Waynesbrough.
