Wayne County, NC - Will of Henry Johnson, 1852 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In the name of God amen, I, HENRY JOHNSON of the county of Wayne and state of North Carolina, being of sound mind and disposing memory, do make this my last will and testament as follows, to wit: Item First, I give and bequeath to my four daughters, namely, JULIA SMITH, CLARKY SMITH, ELIZA JOHNSON and SMITHY JOHNSON my Peele tract of land equally divided among them. Item Second, I give and bequeath unto my son WILLIAM P H JOHNSON all my tract of land called the Bell tract, which I have given him a deed for, before now. Item Third, I lend unto my seven daughters fifty (50) acres of land including my house during their single life, namely, ELIZA, SMITHY, LEBANA, AMSEY, KORNELIA, LISINNA and ZILPHA JOHNSON. Item Fourth, I give and bequeath unto my five daughters, namely, LEBANA,AMSEY, KORNELIA, LESINNA and ZILPHA JOHNSON all my tract of land whereon I now live, including the marsh, equally divided among them. Item Fifth, I give and bequeath unto my seven single daughters, one feather bed and furniture each, one chest and fifteen dollars each to make them equal with them that have married and left me. Item Sixth, I give unto my son WILLIAM P H JOHNSON one feather bed and furniture one sow and pigs and one horse. Item Seventh, I give and bequeath unto my grandchildren, namely, SENDERLIA, MARY, WILLIAM IRVIN and JOHN H DAVIS fifty ($50) dollars each and JULIA ANN DAVIS fifty ($50) dollars one feather bed and furniture. Item Eighth, I give and bequeath unto my daughters, namely, JULIA, CLARKEY, ELIZA, SMITHEY, LEBANA, AMSEY, KORNELIA, ZILPHA and LISINNA JOHNSON my four Negroes, TOBIAS, MATHEW, TOM and RANSEY to be equally divided among them after paying my just debts and the money claims in the will. Item Ninth, I give and bequeath unto my son JOHN A JOHNSON fifty ($50) dollars. All my mechanic tools, I give equally divided between my two sons JOHN A JOHNSON and WILLIAM P H JOHNSON. Item Tenth, I also give unto my single daughters one years provisions. Lastly, my will and desire is that the residue of my property not already given away to be sold by my executor and after paying my just debts, if there is any money remaining I want it equally divided among my surviving daughters.
