Wayne County, NC - Will of Henry W. Johnson, 1899 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In the name of God, Amen I, HENRY W. JOHNSON of the county of Wayne and state or North Carolina, being of sound mind and memory, but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence do make and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and and form following that is to say, FIRST That my executor hereinafter named shall provide for my body a decent burial suitable to the wishes of my relatives and friends and pay all funeral expenses together with my just debts however and to whomsoever owing out of the money that may first come into his hands as a part or parcel of my estate. SECOND I consider the lands deeded by me to my two sons WILLIAM and JOSEPH a full share for each of them in my estate. THIRD I give and devise to my daughter NANCY VINSON, wife of ELIJAH VINSON all my land on the south side of Bear Creek, adjoining the lands of ELIJAH VINSON and others, and also two lots or parcels of land that I heired from my fathers estate, adjoining the land of BERRY A. PARKS, H. J. NEWSOM and others, to have and to hold to her and to her heirs in fee simple forever. FOURTH I give and devise to my three grandchildren, BETSY, EMETT and LEWIS H. REAVES the daughter and sons of LEWIS H. REAVES and ANTOINETT REAVES, deceased one lot or parcel of land on which I now reside, adjoining the lands of J. F. HILL, J. M. WOOD and others to have and to hold to them, their heirs in fee simple, forever. FIFTH I enjoin upon my three grand children BETSY, EMETT and LEWIS H. REAVES to pay to my daughter NANCY VINSON five hundred and sixty two dollars and fifty cents, one hundred dollars to be annually without interest, until the said five hundred and sixty two dollars and fifty cents is paid. My will and desire is that LEWIS H. REAVES SR., the father of BETSY, EMETT and LEWIS H. REAVES, have a lifetime estate in the lands that I have given them. Also it is my will that all the residue of my estate, if any, be sold and the money together with my notes be applied to the payment of my just debts; if there should not be enough of my personal property to pay all my just debts, then it is my will that my daughter NANCY VINSON pay half of them, and my three grand children BETSY, EMETT and LEWIS H. REAVES the other half. And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my trusty friend JACOB F. HILL my lawful executor to all intents and purposes to execute this my last Will and Testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same and every part and clause thereof.
