In the Name of God Amen  I Theophilus Jones of Wayne County being of Sound and 
Perfect Mind and Memory Blessed be God do This Eleventh Day of December in the 
year of Our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty Five Make and Publish 
This my Last Will and Testament in Manner Following that is to Say
Item  I Lend to my Beloved Wife Sarah Jones My Manner Plantation During her 
Life or widowhood Containing two Hundred and five Acres of Land and That James 
Jones Shall remain on the same Plantation on molested and after her Death or 
Marriage I Give the Said Manner Plantation and Lands the Acres above Mentioned 
to My Son James Jones to him and his Heirs for Ever, I also Lend my Beloved 
Wife Sarah Jones My House hold furniture and after Her Death or Marriage for 
the Said Furniture to be Divided that James Jones have the One Half of the 
Same, and the Other Half to Selah Jones my Daughter to them and their Heirs 
for Ever
I Also Lend My Beloved Wife Sarah Jones my Riding Horse and her Saddle and 
bridle, During her Life or Widowhood the Said, Horse and saddle & bridle, 
after her Death or Marriage I give to my Daughter Selah Jones to her and her 
heirs for Ever
Item   I Give and Bequeathe to my Daughter Honour Jones One Jinning wheal and 
five Shillings Courent Money To her and her Heirs for Ever

Item   I Give and Bequeathe to my Daughter Jiminah Howell Five Shillings 
Courant Money to her and her Heirs for Ever
Item   I Give and Bequeathe to my Son Hardy Jones Five Shillings Courant money 
to him and his Heirs for Ever
Item   I Give and Bequeathe to my Daughter Grace Tolar Five Shillings Courant 
Money to her and her Heirs for Ever
Item   I give and Bequeathe to my Son Willis Jones Five Shillings Courant 
money to him and his Heirs for Ever
Item   I Give and Bequeathe to my Daughter Edith Wise Five Shillings Courant 
money to her and her Heirs for Ever
Item   I Give and Bequeathe unto my Son Arthur Jones Five Shillings Courant 
money to him and his Heirs for Ever
Item   I give and Bequethe unto my Daughter In Law Pattey Holland One Feather 
bed and One Cow and Calf to her and her Heirs for Ever [daughter?]
Item   I give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Betsey Jones One Featherbed & Cow 
and Calf to her and her Heirs for Ever
Item   I Give and Bequeathe unto my Son Willis Jones all The Land that is in 
the forke of Jumping Run that Belongs to me to him and his Heirs for Ever.

Item   I Give and Bequeathe unto my Sons in law Shadrick Holland [Shadrach 
Holland] if he lives with [previous 4 words lined out] One Feather Bed & Cow & 
Calf  That is if he Lives with my Son James Jones while he is Twenty One years 
of Age and if he Don’t the Legacy is to Return to the Estate Again
And I hereby Constitute and Appoint my Beloved Wife Sarah Jones Executrix 
James Jones and John Fellow Executers to this my Last Will and Testament in 
Witness Thereof I have Hereunto Set my hand and Seal this Day and 
Date above Written
