I Samson Lane of the County of Wayne and State of North Carolina being of sound and disposing mind and memory, do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament, hereby revoking and annulling all other wills by me heretofore made. First - I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Elizabeth Faison three hundred dollars to be paid her within twelve months after my death. Secondly - I give and bequeath unto William G. Bryan of Wayne County (he married my granddaughter Louisa) two Negro slaves to wit Amanda and her child Augustus, by the will all the increase of said Negroes born after the date of this will and whereas the said William G. Bryan has exchanged Negro boy Ned the son of said Negro Amanda, for a Negro man named Sam which Negro Sam he has now in his possession. I do hereby confirm said exchange and do give and bequeath all my rights and title to said Negro man Sam to said William B. Bryan his executors and administrators forever. Thirday - After paying all my just debts and legacy I give, devise and bequeath to my beloved son William K. Lane his heirs executors and administrators all the rest and residue of my estate both real and personal, consisting of the land and plantation where I now live, the Boyte Land, one lot in the town of Waynesborough known in the plan of said town as Lot number thirty (No 30), Negores Stephen, Ennis, Phillis and her childen Terecy, Emily, Tom, Caroline, Serena and Laura, Frances and her child Hannah, and Luny, together with all the increase of said slaves born after the date of this will and all my other property of every kind and description and wherever situate, to have and to hold to my said son William K. Lane his heirs, executors and administrators forever. Lastly I nominate and appoint my said son William K. Lane to be executor of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 21st day of May 1847. Mordecai Joseph Ingram State of North Carolina County of Wayne Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions November Term 1848 The foregoing paper writing was exhibited in open court and offered for probate as the last will and testament of Samson Lane by William K. Lane the executor thereof; whereupon Joseph Ingram and George W. Mordecai the subscribing witnesses to said paper writing having been first duly sworn proved the due execution thereof by said Samson Lane the testator therein named, at and for his last will and testament; and it is considered by the court that said paper writing is the last will and testament of said Samson Lane and that the same be recorded and filed as such. Whereupon the aforesaid William K. Lane the executor named in said last will and testament was duly qualified as such. Jno. A.
