Wayne County, NC - Will of Major Parks, 1842 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In the name of God Amen. I MAJOR PARKS of the State of No. Carolina and County of Wayne (now) being in usual health and sound memory as is common, thanks be to God for the same, but calling to mind the mortality of my body and that it is appointed for all men one to die do make and ordain this Instrument to contain my last Will and Testament in the following To Witt ITEM 1 I give and bequeath to my son LITTLE B. PARKS one Negro boy (Robin) to him and his heirs forever. ITEM 2 I loan my beloved wife MARY PARKS all the stock of Negroes, horses, Cattle, hogs, sheep, household and kitchen furniture and plantation tools during her natural life. ITEM 3 After the death of my wife, I give to my son JOSEPH two Negroes ( Edy & Green) to him and his heirs forever. ITEM 4 After the death of my wife, I give to my daughter SALLY SMITH one Negro boy (Ben) to her and her heirs forever. ITEM 5 After the death of my wife , I give to my daughter PATSY TAYLOR one hundred dollars current money to her and her heirs forever. ITEM 6 After the death of my wife, I give to my daughter REBECCACK (sic) one Negro girl (Rhoda) to her and her heirs forever. ITEM 7 After the death of my wife, I give to my son LITTLE B. PARKS one Negro girl Cherry to him and his heirs forever. ITEM 8 After the death of my wife, I lend JOHN FRASUR Two Negroes (Patt & Dred) And if he dies without a lawful begotten heir the said Negroes to return to my lawful heirs. Also one Bed and furniture; and my gun & one horse bridle and Saddle. ITEM 9 I give and bequeath to VICEY EDMUNDSON one dollar current money to her and her heirs forever. ITEM 10 After the death of my wife all the surplus property that has not been given away by will must be sold and divided equally between my lawful heirs, to them and their heirs forever. Lastly I constitute nominate and appoint my son LITTLE B.
