Pate, Jr. WILL OF SILAS DANIEL PATE (1858) OF WAYNE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA I, Silas Pate of the State of North Carolina and County of Wayne, being of sound mind and memory do make and publish this my last will and testament, viz: Item 1--I give to my beloved wife Christian Pate my horse Bud and Buggy during her natural life, all my cattle, all my hogs and sheep and all my household and kitchen furniture. Item 2--I give to my son James A. Pate one bed and bedstead and its necessary furniture. Item 3--I give to my son Leonard H. Pate my tract of Land lying on the East Side of Stoney Creek adjoining his own Land and the Lands of Exum Howell containing Forty Acres and one Hundred and Fifty Dollars. Item 4--I give to my daughter Leathy (Taligha) N. Pate One Hundred and Fifty Dollars. Item 5--I give to my daughter Pernicy H. Pate One Hundred and Fifty Dollars. Item 6--I give to my daughter Eliza V. Howell One Hundred and Fifty Dollars. Item 7--After the death of my wife Christian I give to my two sons Silas Pate and James A. Pate my horse and buggy equally. Item 8--I make and appoint my two sons Leonard H. Pate and Silas Pate Executors of this my last Will and Testament this September 4, 1858. Wayne County November term 1858 The foregoing paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Silas Pate is produced in open court and offered for probate upon the testimony of William A. Thompson and Exum Howell the two subscribing witnesses thereto and is duly proved and admitted to probate and ordered to be recorded and filed. Whereupon Leonard H.
