Pate, Jr WILL OF CHRISTIAN (AMMONS) PATE (1872) OF WAYNE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA wife of Silas Daniel Pate (1794-1858) I, Christian Pate of the County of Wayne and the State of North Carolina, being of sound mind and memory, but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence do make and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say: First--My executor (herinafter named) shall provide for my body a decent burial, suitable to the wishes of my relatives and friends, and pay all funeral expenses, together with my just debts, howsoever and to whomsoever owing, out of the moneys that may first come into his hands as a part or parcel of my estate. Item 1st--I give to my oldest daughter Leathum [Talitha], wife of Clinton Pate, one third of all the property I shall own at my death consisting of money, cattle and hogs, household and kitchen furniture, etc. Item 2nd--I give to my daughter Perneisa, wife of Calvin Pate, also one third of all the property omentioned in item first and desire that one half of her [Perneisa's] part to be given and qually divided between her two daughters Eveline, wife of George Crumpler, and Sallie, wife of John Tilton. Item 3rd--I give to my two grandchildren Ursullia, wife of Henry Tilton, and Arington Howell the portion or the one third I intended for my daughter Eliza or their mother, who is now dead, to be equally divided between them. And lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my sons-in-law Clinton [DeWitt Clinton] Pate and Calvin Pate my lawful executors to all intents and purposes, to execute this my last Will and Testament, according to the true will and meaning of the same, and every part and clause thereof, hereby revoking and delcaring utterly void all other Wills and Testaments by me heretofore made. In withess thereof I the said Christan set my hand and seal this (blank) day of Dec.
