Wayne County, NC - Will of John Peal, 1848 Date: 8 August 1848 Recorded: November 1848 County: Wayne, NC Deceased: John Peal (1791-1848) Father: David Peelle (1751-1804?) Spouse(s): Patricia Minshew (1790-1856) Text: In the Name of God, Amen. I, John Peal of Wayne County in the State of North Carolina being of sound mind and memery but knowing that men once must die doth on the 8th day of August one Thousand Eight Hundred and Fourty Eight make this my last will and testament and form following- 1st. I bequeth my soul to God whom I trust I am and my body to be decently buried. 2nd. My will is that my wife should have the use of all of my propety for her suport and family and for her to keep the family on as here to fore during here life time or widow hood. Except enought of it to pay my just debts and that of the part she can best spare and if there should be more than she should want to keep or should after wards propety becom useles to her for it to besold and the prosedds to be kept in common stock for the estate. After my wife death or widow I leave all my property to be devided a monst all of my daughters - Percy Edwards, Zilpha Peal, Sarah Peal, Elizath Vernon except two hundred dollars I leave to my son - Robert Peal. My parishable propety to be sold for a division and my land to be divied as they my agree. If my weife marries before her dath fore her to have as the law directs- what I have heretofore given to my daughters Percy Edwards and Elizath Vernon to be counted part of their part. And lastly I constitut and appoint my son Robert Peal my true and lawful executor to this my last will and testament in witness I have here unto set my hand and seal this day and date above menched.
