Wayne County, NC - Asher Pipkin Estate Records, d. 1830 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Asher Pipkin, b. ca. 1778, was the son of Jesse Pipkin who was the son of John Pipkin Junior of Wayne County who was the son of John Pipkin of Chowan County who left a will in 1745. This estate record can be found at the North Carolina Archives. Asher Pipkin married ca. 1801 and died in 1830. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ State of North Carolina } Wayne County } Know all Men by these presents, that We, William Smith, Jonathan Smith and Bryan Lawhon are held and firmly bound unto His Excellency M. Stokes Esquire, Captain General, Governor, and Commander in Chief, in and over the State aforesaid, in the sum of three thousand dollars current money to be paid to said Governor, his successors in office or assigns. To the which payment, well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs; Executors, and Administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents; sealed with our seals, and dated this 22d day of Feby A.D. 1831 The Condition of the above obligation is such, that if the above bounden William Smith Administrator of all and singular the Goods and Chattels, rights and credits of Asher Pipkin deceased, do make, or cause to be made, a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the Goods and Chattels, rights and credits of the said deceased, which have, or shall come to the hands, possession, or knowledge of the said William Smith or into the hands and possession of any other person or persons, for hire and the same so made, do exhibit, or cause to be exhibited, to the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions of the County aforesaid, within ninety days after the date of these presents; and the same Goods, Chattels and Credits, and all the other goods, Chattels and Credits of the said deceased, at the time of his death, or which at any time hereafter shall come to the hands or possession of the said William Smith or into the hands or possession of any other person or persons, for him do well and truly administer according to Law; and further, do make, or cause to be made, a true and just account of all said Administration within two years after the date of these presents, and all the rest and residue of the said Goods, Chattels and Credits which shall be found remaining upon the said Administrator account, the same being first examined and allowed by the Court of said County, shall deliver and pay unto such person or persons, respectively, to which the same shall be due, pursuant to the true intent and meaning of the Act in that case made and provided: and if it shall appear that any Will or Testament was made by the said deceased, and the Executor therein named do exhibit the same into Court, making request to have the same allowed and approved accordingly: If the said William Smith above bounden, being thereunto required, do render and deliver the said letters of Administration (a probation of each Testament being first had and made in the said Court) then this obligation to be void and of no effect, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.
