State of North Carolina} Wayne County} In the name of God amen I Martha Sasser (widow of Edward Sasser) calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing it is appointed for all to die; do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form as follows (Viz) First of all I commend my Soul unto the hand of all mighty God who gave it & my Body to the earth to be decently interred at the discression of my Executors and as for what worldly estate it hath pleased God to bless me with I give & dispose of as follows (Viz) My will & desire is that my Executors do sell at [---rblie] sale on a credit of 6 months the whole of my property not given away and after paying my funeral – expenses & all of my just debts the residue I give & dispose of as follows. 1st I give to my son Edward Sasser one Bed and furniture and one hundred dollars in cash 2d. I give to my Son William Sasser fifty dollars 3dly I give to my daughter Chelly Sasser Fifty dollars. 4thly I give to my daughter Polly Sasser fifty dollars 5th I give to my grand daughter Marthy Hastings five dollars 6thly I give to my grand son Edward Hasting five dollars 7thly I give to my grand son – John Oliver one dollar 8thly. I give the residue of the money which may be in the hands of my Executors to be equally divided among my living children – at my Deceased 9thly and lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my friend Levi D. Howell and my son William Sasser Executors to this my Last will and testament. This the 2nd day of Dec 1851 Witness her Sanders P. Cox Martha + Sasser {seal} Wiley W. Then was the forgoing paper writing purporting to be The last will and testament of Martha Sasser being Date the 2nd day of December 1851 is offered for probate on the testimony of Sanders P. Cox and Wiley M. Cox, the Subscribing witness thereto and is duly proved and admitted to probate, and ordered to be recorded and filed.
