Original format & spelling retained. 

A paper writing purporting to be the last
Will & testament of William Sasser is of-
fered for probate on the testimony of 
Gard Thompson & David Davis, the sub-
scribing witness thereto & is duly proved
& admitted to probate & ordered to be
recorded.  Wereupon Tippo H Sasser
the Ex s therein named is duly qualified
as such

   In the name of God amen, I William
Sasser of the county of Wayne and State
of North Carolina, being of sound mind
and memory and considering the uncertainty
of my Earthley Existence do this twenty third
day of April in the year of our Lord one
thousen Eight hundred and fifty seven make
and publish this my last will and testament
in manor and form as follow. (viz)
Item  I lend and devize to my wife during
her life or widow hood all my land it
being the place where I now liv,  I further
lend to her during her life or widow hood
all my house hole and and kitchen furniture
I also give to her the sum of fifty dollars
Per anum to be paid to her by my Excutioner
during her life or widow hood
Item I give to my son Exum Sasser all
my land (it being the track wich I liv on)
Except the life Estate of my wife wich I
devised in aformer ite of this will
Item  My will is that my Execution or at the
death of my wife sell all my property of
what so ever sort (Except my land) and after 
paying all my Just debts and Expenses the
balance to gather with all the none and notes 
that my be on hand be Equaley divided

between my foure children (viz) Abraham
Sassor, Isaack Sasser Jacob Sassor and Elizabeth
Missor [Misson?].  Shere and shear a like
  I nominate and appint my son Tipow
H Sasser Executor to this my last will and 
testament  sind seald and publisht the
day and date above written in presence
of us.

    The foregoing paper writing purporting 
to be the last will and testament of William Sasser
is offered for probate on the testimony of Guard
Thompson and David Davis the subscribing witnesses
thereto and is duly proved and admitted to probate
and ordered to be recorded Whereupon Tippo H
Sasser the Executor therein named is duly qualified 
as such.  Let letters testameatany issue
