I Jeremiah Strickland of the County of Wayne and state of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence do make and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say - - - 1st That my executors herein after mentioned pay any and all debts which I may owe which have been contracted since the 1st January 1874. 2nd I lend to my wife Polly Ann my house, plantation, her choice horse, her choice cow and calf, one OX, all my hogs, two beds, all the chairs and kitchen furniture, all my farming tools, one cart and a free use of timbers from any lands which I may die seized and passed and one years provisions for herself and family to have and to hold the same during life or widowhood. 3rd That my executors shall sell any of my personal property which may be on hand not disposed of and after settling the debts as named in item 1st divide the balance equally between Charlotte Pike, Angus J. Strickland, Nancy Ann Williams, Nathan B. Strickland and Mary E. Strickland my children by third wife Nancy Ann. 4th I give to my children Nancy Ann Williams, Nathan B. Strickland and Mary E. Strickland each one bed, stead and furniture to be them selected. 5th After the death of my wife or her marriage then my executors herein after named shall sell at public auction the personal estate herein loaned to my wife in item third, and divide the same equally between Charlotte Pike, Angus J. Strickland, Nancy Ann Williams and Nathan B. Strickland and Mary E. Strickland. 6th The lands known as the Hales lands shall be equally divided between Charlotte Pike, Nancy Ann Williams, Angus J. Strickland and Mary E. Strickland. 7th After the death or marriage of my wife Polly Ann, I give to my son Nathan B. Strickland my house plantation 8th I hereby appoint my trusty friend and son in law A. J. Finlayson (?) and J. T.
