Wayne County, NC - Will of William Taylor, 1819 ~~~~~~~~~~ In the name of God Amen This 16th day of January one thousand Eight hundred and nineteen I WILLIAM TAYLOR of Wayne County being of Sound mind and memry therefore calling to mind the mortality of my Body and Knowing it is appointed for all men to die I do make and adorn (ordain) this my Last will and Testament in maner following my Desire is that all my Just Debts Shall be paid by my Exerters hereafter named I Lend to my beloved Daughters PENELOPE TAYLOR, TABITHA TAYLOR, SELAH TAYLOR one half of the house I now Live in and Ten Acres of Land Joinding around the house begining at a stake a small distance above the crossing place of the Branch and near an Est Corse So as to run with the Fence between the orchard and wheat patch five acres long then square across two acres wide then to the Branch so as to contain the ten acres and they are to have previlidge of fire wood and timber of the land I now possess any where on it as long as they Live single or is a mind to Live on it. I give to my beloved Son BENJAMIN TAYLOR all the Land that I now possess Except the ten acres that I lend to my Daughters and when they mary (marry) or leave it, it is to belong to the said BENJAMIN TAYLOR laying in Wayne & Green counties provided the said BENJAMIN TAYLOR will pay four hundred & Fifty Dollars to my Six Daughters hereafter named PENELOPE TAYLOR, TABITHA TAYLOR, SELAH TAYLOR, NANCY WILLIAMS, ELIZABETH HOLLOWELL & SALLY SMITH to be Equal Divided among them Six Should the said BENJAMIN TAYLOR refuse to pay the above mentioned sum of money to his Sisters my desire is that the Land be sold by my Exercutors and the above mentioned sum of money to be paid to my above named daughters and the Balance to BENJAMIN TAYLOR my desire is that BENJAMIN TAYLOR have one year to pay the above mentioned sum of money to the above named daughters after the will is proved I give unto my daughter MOLLEY FAIRCLOTH two hundred Dollars if she is living when the will is proved and if she is not Living my desire is that the above mentioned two hundred Dollars be Equeally Divided amung hir children hereafter named to wit POLLEY FREDERICK, ROBERT & JAMES all children of said MOLLEY FAIRCLOTH I give unto my Daughter PENELOPE TAYLOR two Cows or the value there off one Bed and Furniture one chest two pewter plates one dish & one chir I give to my Daughter TABITHA TAYLOR two cows or the value there of one Bed and Furniture two pewter plates one dish & chir I give to my Daughter SELY TAYLOR two Cows or the value there of one Bed and Furniture two pewter plates one dish and one chir I give unto my daughter FANNY SMITH two Dollars Besides what I have already given hir I give unto my daughter AVEY BURNS the Bed that I lay on two sheets and one Blanket one pare of Silver Shoe Buckles I give unto my Son JAMES TAYLOR one Dollar I give unto my Son JOHN TAYLOR one Dollar I give unto my Son ROBERT TAYLOR twenty dollars I give unto my Son HENRY TAYLOR twenty Dollars I give unto my Son KINCHEN TAYLOR one dollar I give unto my Daughters PENELOPE TAYLOR, TABITHA TAYLOR, SELY TAYLOR, NANCY WILLIAMS, ELIZABETH HOLLOWELL & SALLY SMITH my Negroes hereafter named Eady, Lucy, Tamis, Luke, Pirce, Sophey, Mary & Isaac and their increas from this time to be Equally Divided among the above named Daughters. My will and desire is that all the rest of my Estate that I have not already given away to be Sold and the money to be Equally Divided among my daughters hereafter named PENELOPE TAYLOR TABITHA TAYLOR, SELY TAYLOR, NANCY WILLIAMS, ELIZABETH HOLLOWELL & SALLY SMITH and all the money that I may have by me and all the notes that is due me to be Equally Divided by my Executors among my Six Last named Daughters I make and ______ John Williams & William Hollowell my Executors of this my Last Will and Testament revokeing and disanuling all other wills by me made in Testamony whereof I WILLIAM TAYLOR have hereunto Set my hand and Seal the day and date first written Signed Sealed and Acknowledged by the said WILLIAM TAYLOR as his Last Will and Testament in the Presents of Wm.
