Wayne County, NC - Will of Jethro Thompson, 1821 ~~~~~~~~~~ In the Name of God Amen I JETHRO THOMPSON of the County of Wayne and State of No. Carolina being in a low State of heath (health) but of perfect mind and memory do make constitute and ordain this to be my last Will and Testament in the following manner and form to Wit 1ST I give unto my beloved Wife one Horse one bed & Furniture, Eight hed of sheep all Eues, two Sows and Eighteen Shoats two Cows & Calves her Choice, all my geece together with all my Kitchen & houshold furniture. It is further my Will that after my present crop of corn is housed and my hogs made fat that my wife have half the corn that is left, half of my wheet & Seed Peas and Eighteen Hundred weight of fat Pork I also lend my wife four feather Beds and furniture until my four Daughters come of age or marries. I further Lend unto my wife during her natural life the following lands begining at the mouth of the Mill branch in the run of Stoney Creek & from thence up the Creek to my upper Corner then with my upper lines to or gainst a white Oak near my old hog pen from thence a direct line to the foot of Roberts path at the Road, then with the road to where my son BRYAN THOMPSON line will crop it, then with his line to the begining I give and bequeath to my son GUARD THOMPSON after the Death of his mother all the Land I have lent her to him and his heirs forever also one Cow & Calf I give to my Son BRYAN THOMPSON the following land begining at the mouth of the Mill branch thence up the same on the north side of the Ditch runs to the fork at the hed of the Pond then up the South prong to an ash in first Drain then up the Drain forty yards then to Bennets Corner from thence a direct line to the first corner of the Zadock Thompson Ten acre pattern, then with James Thompson line to the run of Stoney Creek then up the run of said Creek to the begining to him and his heirs forever. I also give to my son BRYAN forty five Dollars in money and half of my crop of corn and wheet after my hogs are fatted. It is my Will that my wife and family have the use of my yoke of Oxen. I give and bequeath to my Daughter NANCY THOMPSON and her heirs forever the following Land. Beging at the mouth of the first Branch below the cause way on the Reedy Swamp nearly appast Henry Roberts, then up the Run of said Branch to the hed then a direct line to the foot of Roberts path on the Road, then with my son Guards line to or near a white Oak then with my upper lines to the Reedy Swamp then down the run of the same to the begining. I give to my Daughter POLLY THOMPSON and her heirs for ever the following Land Begining in the Mouth of the Branch in the Reedy Swamp my Daughter NANCYS Beging and runs with her line to the Road then down the Road to my Son BRYAN line then with his Line to James Thompsons line then with his line to the Reedy Swamp then up the run of said swamp to the beging. It is further my Will that the Bal. of my Estate not heretofore lent or given away be sold and after all my Just Debts are paid the Ballance to be equally Divided between my four Daughters SMITHY, SALLY, CRESSA & PATSEY share & share alike. I also give them one fether Bed & furniture Each Should they marry or when they are of age.
