I have retained all original spelling & punctuation. ********************************************************************* In the Name of God Amen the Twenty Eighth day of September one thousand Seven hundred and Eighty Nine, I Benjamin Walding of Wayne County in the State of North Carolina Being of perfect mind and Memory thanks be given unto God, therefore Calling unto mind the Mortality of my Body and Knowing that it is Appointed for all men Once to die, Do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament that is to Say principally and first of all I Give and Recommend my Soul into the Hands of God that Gave it and for my Body I Recommend it to the Earth to be buried in A christian like and Descent [sic] manner at the discretion of my Executors hereafter Named, Nothing Doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall Receive the Same again by the Might Power of God, and as Touching such Worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to Bless me with in this life, I Give Devise and dispose of the Same in the following Manner and form. Impremis. I give and bequeath unto my Son Samuel Walding all my Land Plantations with all the Improvements after the Decease of my Beloved wife Sarah Walding to him and his heirs forever, Also, I give to my Son Samuel Walding all my Carpenters and Jointers Tools. Item. I leave the Land and Plantation whereon I now dwell unto my Beloved Wife Sarah Walding for the Term of her Natural Life as also I leave to my Said wife the use of all my Personal or Moveable Estate During of [sic] her Life, and after her Death to be Equally Divided among my Children Samuel Walding, Elender Walding, Patience Walding and not to be Sold after my Death but to be Equally Divided between them three. Item. I give and bequeath unto my well beloved Son in Law Edmund Beird and Sarah his wife five Shillings Specie. Item. I give and bequeath unto my well beloved Son in Law Elias Grantham and Mary his wife five Shillings Specie. Also. I Constitute and appoint my Beloved wife Sarah Walding Executors and my Son Samuel Walding Executors and John Oliver of Johnston County Executors of this my Last will and Testament and do hereby Utterly Disannal [sic] Disallow and Revoke all and Every other Wills and Legaces(?) Bequeaths and Executors by me bequeathed, Ratifying and Confirming this and no other to be my Last will and Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and affixed my Seal the day and year first above written. Signed Sealed Published and Pronounced by the said Benjamin Walding to be his Last Will and Testament. In presence of us Interlined before assigned the Subscribers [signed] Benjamin Walding Stephen Sasser George Jernigan John Slator January Term 1795 NOTE: In September 1795, Benjamin's son Samuel and widow Sarah sold Benjamin's old plantation. Samuel Walding lived in Johnston County NC in 1800, but soon afterwards he followed his relatives to Hancock County Georgia. Also in 1795, Benjamin's daughter Sarah Walding Beaird and her husband Edmond left and settled in Hancock County Georgia, along with Benjamin's daughter Mary Walding Grantham. ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
