Wayne County, NC - Will of John Wiggs, 1830 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Will of John Wiggs 1830 Wayne County In the name of God Amen. I, John Wiggs Sen of the County of Wayne and State of North Carolina being vary sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory And calling unto mind the mortality of my body knowing that it is appointed for all men once to Die Do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following viz------- First My will is that my funeral charges be paid by my Executor. Also all of my just debts Secondly I give and bequeath to my son William Wiggs one feather bed and furniture 3rdly I give and bequeath to my son Henry Wiggs one feather bed and furniture 4thly I give and bequeath to my daughter Nancy Wiggs one feather bed and furniture one cow 5thly I give and bequeath to my Daughter Charlotty Wiggs one feather bed and furniture and one cow 6thly I give and bequeath to my son John Wiggs one feather bed and furniture one hors bridle and sadle one negro man named Lewis and all of my land whereon I now live the above property to him and his heirs forever after the expiration of his mother death and not before except it be by her free consent 7thly I lend to my Beloved Wife Cherry Wiggs the use of the above named negro Lewis also the Land and plantation whereon I now live and all the rest of my property of all description whatsoever During her natural life or Widowhood And after the death or expiration of my wifes widowhood My Will is that all of the property I left to her should be equally divided between my five children before named provided that at the above expiration of my wifes claim to my property my daugter Charlotty should be considered to be unable as she now is to work sufficiently to percure her own living then and in that case of her inability My Will is that she should be allowed her needful support out of my Land and Negro Lastly I nominate and appoint my Beloved wife Cherry Wiggs and my Trusty friend Aaron Lancaster my whole and sole Executrix and Executor to this my last will and testament in witness wherof I do Thereunto set my hand and seal July Twenty first day one Thousand Eight Hundred and Thirty (His Mark) John Wiggs In presence of Us Jobe Rooks Jonas Smith ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
