All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Watson http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00029.html#0007196 January 26, 2013, 10:05 pm Written: October 23, 1785 Wilkes County, North Carolina Deed Book A-1, p. 268, Grant #148 To all to whome these presents Shall come Greeting Know ye that we for and Inconsideration of the Sum of fifty Shillings for every hundred acres hereby granted & Sold have given Paid unto our Treasury Benjamine Morgan have given & granted by these presents do give & grant unto the Said Benj Morgan A Tract of Land containing Six hundred & forty acres Lying & being in our County of Wilkes on the middle fork of Roaring River Beginning at three white oaks in a bottom near the fork of Brush Creek & Runing West Two hundred & forty Eight poles to two Post oaks & a red oak near Larken Clevelands Waggon path Then South Thirty Seven Degrees West one hundred & Twenty Poles to two Maples & a beach on the South bank of Sd. Creek it being the conditional line between Ann Nanl.(?) Rose & B. Morgan Then South Twenty one poles to three white oaks in Sd. Clevelands line Then East Thirty two poles along Said line to two pines and a Red oak it being Sd. Clevelands corner trees then South Two hundred and forty three poles along Sd. Clevelands line to a pine and Small span or Ash oak (?) Sapling then East Two hundred & ninety poles to a post oak & Two white oaks Saplings then North three hundred & Sixty poles to the first Station ~ Including Sd. Morgans Improvements. As by the plat hereunto annexed doth appear Together with all woods waters mines minerals hereditaments and appurtenances to the Said Land belonging or appertaining To hold to the Said Benjamin Morgan his heirs and assigns forever yielding and paying to us Such sums of money yearly or Otherwise as our general assembly from time to time may direct provided always that the Said Benjamine Morgan Shall cause this grant to be Registered in the Registers office of our Said County of Wilkes within Twelve months from the date hereof otherwise the Same Shall be Void and of no effect. IN TESTIMONY whereof we have caused our great Seal to be hereunto affixed Witness Alexander Martin Esquire our governor captain general and commander in Chief at Fairfield the Twenty third day of October in the Seventh year of our Independence and in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and Eighty Five.
