Through the mercy of kind providence we are continued on this state of action and are at this time enjoying a reasonable state of health for which we feel thankful to God for his goodness toward us and may God direct that when these our few lines reach you they may find you all well. We received your letter on the 27 of June last, and with heartfelt sorrow we lament the death of our dear Joel, whom we had nourished and raised up but was cut down by the strong hand of death and has entirely deprived us of all hopes of ever seeing him in this life again. We feel to lament with his dear companion and greatly deplore her sorrows in her desolate condition knowing that her sorrows must be great and her cares and labors with her ten little children which demands more than any be them that feels it can declare, Dear Son. We wish you to try to comfort her and endeavor to aid her in her necessity, for the distance is so far and our years so advanced that it is out of our power to ever come to that country. We will now turn from this sorrowfull condition and address our selves to you and your family. We read your letter with joy, to hear from you and your family that you was all well when you wrote to us, Dear Son. We have nothing very strange to write to you. Times are much as usual and nothing strange among us, only thare has been more sickness in this country than has ever been known before the last twelve months, but none of us or our children has died. Grain of every description is plenty and cheape though money is scearce and all kinds of property low - which has greatly annoyed the peace of our country. Our state and condition is desolate for all our children is gone and left us to seek fortunes for them selves. Some in one place and some in another, but we have seen them all in this year but Charity Vanoy. She is living in Grainger County, Tenisee. She and her family was well the last account. Two of her children is married and living in Ash County in this state, that is Emila & Melinda. They have married two very industrious men by the name of John & Michael Mcguire. Allen Church has moved to this county again, and is now in good health but still remains helpless. He has two children living with him, one son and one daughter, and he has one married in Tenisee and living thare and his youngest child lives with her. All the rest of our children lives near whare they did when you was in this county, and as they all expect to write to you, we shall not proceed to give any further details or circumstance, Dear Son. We are now so advanced in years that we have small hopes of ever seeing you and your family. We would be glad if you would come see us shortly if you can, and when you receive these lines, write to us forthwith and write how you are doing and how many children you have and if any of them is married and how you are satisfied in that country, dear son and daughter. We must now conclude our redress to you as the limits of our lites will not admit of us writing further, for it has been so long since we heard from you before the last so many things have occurred that we would wish to write much more but we must conclude our letter. Farewell.
