William Triplett aged 36 years a resident of Wilkes County in the State of North Carolina, who being duly sworn according to law declares that he is the identical William Triplett who was a private in the Company commanded by Captain Horton in the Third Regiment Militia or (North Carolina Volunteers)commanded by Col. John G. Byneu in the completion for the removal of the Cherokee Indians in the year 1838 that he volunteered at Howards Mill in Wilkes County or on about the 30th day of March AD 1838 for the term of six months and continued in actual service one month and twenty one days and was honorable discharged at Ashville North CArolina on the 5th July AD 1838 as will appear by his original certificate of discharge here with ..... or by the muster rolls of said company. He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bounty land to which he may be entitled under the act passed March 22, 1852 never having received land or made previous application. his William X Triplett mark The foregoing statement was sworn to and subscribed before me the day and year above written. And I hereby certify that I believe the said William Triplett to be the identical man who serves as aforesaid and the he is of the age above stated. A. Church J.P. seal State of North CArolina Wilkes County On this the 27th day of march 1855 personally appeared before me a Justice of the Peace in and for the County and State aforesaid William Triplett aged thirty nine years a resident of Wilkes County and of North Carolina who being duly sworn according to law declares that he is the identical William Triplett who was a private in the company commanded by Captain James G. Horton in the 3rd REgiment of Militia commanded by Col. John G. Byman in the War with the Cherokee Indians declared on the day of 1838 for the sum of six months and continued in actual service in said war for the sum of forty two days that he has here before made application for Bounty land under the act of 1852 and received land warrant for forty acres. No. ____ which he has since legally disposed of and can not now return he makes this application for the purpose of obtaining the additional Bounty Land to which he may be entitled under the act approved the 3rd day of March 1855 he also declares that he has never appied for nor received under this or any other act of Congress and bounty land warrant except the one above mentioned. his William X Triplett mark
