Wilkes County, NC - Wilkes County Deserters, 1862 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ $90 REWARD Deserted from Camp McGruder, near Kinston, N. C., on the 1st day of June, the following named privates, from Company C, 26th Regiment N. C. T.: 1st. Joel H. TEDDER, from Wilkes county, N. C., about 5 feet 11 inches high, 32 years of age, light hair, blue eyes, complexion fair, has a down look. 2nd. James JOHNSON, from Wilkes county, N. C., about 5 feet 10 inches high, 19 years of age, light hair, blue eyes, complexion fair, has a very sly look. 3rd. Robert A. STANLY [sic], from Wilkes county, N. C., about 5 feet 10 inches high, 26 years of age, blue eyes, dark hair, long nose, slim chin, complexion fair. The above reward will be paid for the apprehension of the above named deserters, or $30 for each, for their delivery to the nearest military camp post or some jail. T. L.
