Laws Covina, Calif. Sir: I have to advise you that from the papers in the Revolutionary War pension claim W.5125 it appears that David Laws was born in 1755 in Halifax County, Virginia. While a resident of Wilkes County, North Carolina on the last of August 1776 he enlisted as a private and served three months in Captain Francis Hargrave's Company, Colonel Martin Armstrong's North Carolina Regiment. In the spring of 1777 he enlisted and served three months in Captain Benjamin Cleveland's North Carolina Company. He was allowed pension on his application executed October 29, 1832 while a resident of Wilkes County, North Carolina. He died December 3, 1841. Soldier married February 1778 at Moravain Creek, North Carolina, Martha Mitchell who was allowed pension on her application executed January 17, 1843 while a resident of Wilkes County, North Carolina aged eight-two years. Their children are referred to but no names stated.
