Wilkes County, NC - George Roberts Revolutionary War Pension, 1852 May 16, 1923 Honorable F.B. Swank House of Representatives My dear Mr. Swank: I have to advise you that from the papers in the Revolutionary War pension claim S.7397 of George Roberts it appears that while a resident of Wilkes County, North Carolina he enlisted the latter part of 1777 and served as a private three years in Captain Samuel Johnson's Company, Colonel Hardgrove's Regiment, North Carolina Troops, was in skirmishes at Hanging Rock and near Charlotte, North Carolina, was transferred to Captain Harrison's or Harris' Company, Colonel Miller's Regiment which concluded his three years service; he then enlisted and served one year in Captain Moore's Company, Colonel Miller's Regiment, was in battles of Guilford and Ninety Six. After this service he was engaged as a Wagoner to the close of the war. He was allowed pension on his application executed January 1, 1852 while a resident of Buncombe County, North Carolina aged ninety- four years. He died in Buncombe County, North Carolina January 1, 1864, leaving one child, William V. Roberts who in 1888 was a resident of Haywood, North Carolina aged forty-eight years. No other family data on file. Herewith is returned the letter of Mr. Jasper N. Roberts of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
