Wilkes County, NC - Jonathan Wall Revolutionary War Pension, 1832 ~~~~~~~~~~ September 12, 1938 Mrs. John W. King Summerville Georgia Dear Madam: Reference is made to your request for information relative to Revolutionary War soldiers Jonathan Wall and John Grogan. Revolutionary War data furnished by this office are obtained from claims made to the United States for pension and bounty land and based on the military service of soldiers in that war. A careful search of the records fails to show such claims on file on account of the service of a John Grogan. The data which follow were obtained from papers on file in the pension claim S.9569, based on the military service of Jonathan Wall. He was born in 1744 in Prince Georges County, Maryland. The names of his parents are not given. While living in Wilkes County, North Carolina, Jonathan Wall enlisted early in the Revolutionary War and served about nine weeks as private in Captain Judd's North Carolina company. He enlisted in August, 1781 or 1782, and served about six months as private in Captain Alexander Brevard's company under Colonel Lytle of the North Carolina troops. He was allowed pension on his application executed November 2, 1832, while residing in Rutherford County, North Carolina. He had previously resided in South Carolina for about forty years. There are no other data relative to the family of Jonathan Wall.
