The Wilkesboro Chronicle says that two of the oldest people in this country 
are perhaps two colored women who live in Wilkes. They are aunt Winnie Finley 
and aunt Nan Parks, aged respectively 111 and 113 years. They are yet able to 
walk. Winnie Finley carried dinner to the workmen that built old Briar Creek 
church over 100 years ago and attended its centennial celebration some four 
years ago.
