She was born January 2, 1860, being 76 years, 6 months and one day of age. Surviving her are her husband, W. Turner, and the following eight children: W.E. , Hamptonville; P.V., Wilkesboro; S.P. , of Wolf Bayou, Arkansas; D.E., of Cricket; Mrs. L.R. Mitchell and Miss Diana Turner, of Statesville; Mrs. P.M. Baity, Gilreath; and Miss Arvie, at home; 32 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and one brother, W.C. Hayes, of Gilreath. Furneral service was held at Grassy Knob church, Iredell county, July 4, conducted by the pastor, Rev. J.N. Brinkly. Special music was rendered by the church choir and a duet "Does Jesus Care", by members of Western Avenue Baptist church of Statesville. Pallbearers were J.M. Nichols, Monroe Snyder, S.S. Shoemate, L.T. Barnard, H. W. and C.W. Mahaffey. The beautiful floral tribute was carried by Mrs. Dave McLean, Misses Dare Barnard, Winnie, Bessie and Mae McLean, Mesdames C. W. Mahaffey, Bill Link, H.R.Kendall, L.T. Barnard, J.M. Beshears and a number of the grandchildren. Interment followed in the church cemetery. A consecrated Christian, a loyal and devoted wife, a loving mother, a good neighbor, she numbered her friends by her accquaintance who mourn her passing. She was ever ready to serve her home, her church and her Christ, and will be greatly missed.
