Know all men by these presents that we George Hayes and Benjamin Coffee both 
of Wilkes County and State of North Carolina are held and firmly bound unto 
Richard Caswell Esq'r Governor &c and his successors in the sum of five 
hundred pounds Lawful money of said State to be paid to the said Richard 
Caswell Esq'r Governor and his successors &c to which payment will and truly 
be made we bind ourselves our Heirs Executors and Administrators firmly by 
these presents Sealed with our Seals and Dated this 14th Day of May A.D. 1785.

The Condition of the above Obligation is Such that whereas the above Bound 
George Hayes hath made application for a Marriage License to be Granted 
between him the said George Hayes and Judah Mills both of said County - Now if 
the above mentioned Marriage be in every respect Lawful then the above 
obligation to be void otherwise to Remain in full force and Virtue.
