WILKES COUNTY, NC - WILLS - Kinchen Cheatham, 17 Apr 1834 ----¤¤¤¤---- Will Bk-4 Page 174 May Term 1834 In the name of God Amen: I Kinchen Cheatham of the State of North Carolina and County of Wilkes, being of sound and perfect mind and memory, blessed be God, do this seventeenth day of April in the year of our Lord One thousand eight Hundred and thirty four, make and publish this my last will and testament in the manner following that is to say the first of all I recommend my soul to God who gave it to me and my body to the earth to be buried in a Christian like manner. I request all my just and lawful debts to be paid out of my personal property and then I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Charity all my lands and my Negro girl named Fan, with all the remains of my personal property during her life time or widowhood. this land and Negro with her increase the right thereof not to be transferred nor sold by no contract of my beloved wife. NB. But at my wife's death or in case of marriage I further give all my effects and property unto my seven beloved children, Christopher, James, Henry, William, Wiat, Elizabeth & Rebecca. This property to be sold and the money from the sale of the said property to be equally divided between each and every one of my aforementioned and beloved children. And I hereby make and ordain my trusty friend Ellis Queen executor of this my last will and testament. In Witness whereof I the said Kinchen Cheatham have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal the day and date above written.
