Howard jhhoward@comcast.net May 21, 2007, 10:36 am Source: Wilkes County North Carolina, Will Book 4, Page 1 Written: February 22, 1816 Recorded: April 1821 Caleb Dyer (1773-1821) Will Wilkes County NC Written: 22 February 1816 Probate: April Term Court 1821 Source: Wilkes County North Carolina, Will Book 4, Page 1 IN the name of God, Amen. where as I, Caleb Dyer, of the county of Wilkes and state of North Carolina, being weak in body, but sound and disposing mind and memory and knowing all men have to die, have thought proper to make and ordain this last Will and Testament. Imprimus, as touching such worldy goods as it hath pleased God to bestow upon me, my just debts, funeral expenses, etc. to be paid. The residue I do dispose of in the following manner ... to wit: ITEM: To my dearly beloved wife, Rebecca, I do give and bequeath all my lands and Tenements, Goods and Chattels, Stock of every kind, farming utensils, Household furniture, etc. Excepting one Rifle Gun, my said wife to hold, posess and enjoy the foregoing property, as also my Negro woman, together with her increase, during the time of her widowhood or until my youngest child arrives of age. In the event my said wife Rebecca marrying again, my estate left in her hands to be equally divided between my wife and said children. ITEM: To my son Benjamin Dyer I do give and bequeath the aforementioned Rifle Gun I do constitute, ordain and appoint my Wife Rebecca and Cornelius Howard to be the Executors of this my last will and testament. I, the said Caleb Dyer, do publish pronounce and declare this to be my only last will and Testament, hereby revoking, anulling and disallowing all and every will and Testament heretofore made by me. In the presence of Almighty God and the undersigned witnesses, the said Caleb Dyer hath hereunto set his hand and seal this 22nd day of February 1816.
