Calling unto mind and the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed to man once to die. Do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament. That is to say principally and first off; I give and recommend to the earth to be buried in a decent Christian manner at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but that at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again, by the mighty power of God, and as touching such wordly estate where with it has pleased God to bless me with in this life. I give and bequeath to my son Jonathan Smith a sorrelmare I had of George Morris---four head of sheep if Mr. Dixon brings them according to agreement in book (Ambrije?); also give and bequeath to my son David Smith one English mare now in his possession and the Book Basket together with all the small books butone. Also I give to my son Alexander Smith one large bay horse that I had dixon. the book Merve. And the Big Bible after my wife's decease. Also I give and bequeath to my son-in-law Morris Baker, one brown horse that I called Tony; all the rest of my estate, personal and real I give demise and bequeath to my dearly beloved wife, Jane during her natural life to give demise and dispose of the same or anypart there of to each or either of the two boys, David and Alexander in case they should marry before her decease and after her death, each and every part of my Estate above rated to her equally divided between the two boys David and Alexander by James Baker and Andrew whom I constitute make and ordain the sole Executors of this my Last Will and Testament and I do hereby disallow, revoke and disannul all and every part Testaments, wills legasies, bequests and Executors by me made before named Will and bequests thus ratifying, confirming this and notther to be my Last Will and Testament whereto I have here unto set my hand and seal. This twenty-fourth day of February one thousand seven hundred eighty one. Signed, sealed in presence of Hugh Smith(seal), James Baker, Andrew Baker, December Term 1781 The above Will produced in Court and proved by James Baker, Andrew Baker Inventories of Hugh Smith, Deceased June Term 1782 To 9 head of horses and 11 head of cattle 12 head of sheep and 30 head of hogs and two beds and all the household furniture and the working tools of the plantation. This inventory was returned to James Baker Esq.
