Eason) Deeds and Mortgages, Wilson County, Book 3, Page 217: (LDS Microfilm #0246540) This Deed made the 10th day of December A.D. 1867 between Richard Hocott and wife Nancy Hocott of the first part and Benj. A. Howard of the other part witnesseth that the said Rich Hocott and wife Nancy for and in consideration of the sum of Two Hundred Dollars in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have given granted bargained and sold and by these presents do give grant grant bargain and sell to the said Benjamin H. Howard his heirs and assigns one half interest into a tract or parcel of land in Wilson County on Little Contentna Creek on both sides of the road leading from Wilson to Greenville adjoining the lands of Benjamin Howard, Elias Payan, Wm. Felton, Betsy Edwards, Elitha Owens, and Abner Eason on which is the dower of Betsy Joynes being the balance of the Hocott tract after taking off the part sold to Abner Eason containing 260 acres more or less To have and to hold a half interest in and to said land the other half being owned by James Hocott to him the said Benjamin Howard his heirs and assigns in fee simple and the said Rich Hocott for himself his heirs executors and administrators does covenant and agree to and with the said Benj. H. Howard his heirs and assigns to forever warrant and defend the right and title to said premises against the lawful claim or claims of all persons whatsoever. Brooks Chairman of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Session for the County aforesaid Richard Hocott Wife Nancy Hocott and acknowledged the due execution by them of the foregoing deed thereupon I examined the said Nancy Hocott separate and apart from her husband Rich Hocott touching her full consent in the execution of said deed and in such her private examination she acknowledged that she executed the same freely of her own will and assent and without any force fear compulsion or undue influence of her said husband or any other person and did still voluntarilly assent thereto.
