Wilson County, NC - Roster - Co C - 43rd Regiment - Civil War File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Jo Webb NORTH CAROLINA CIVIL WAR TROOP WILSON COUNTY …….COMPANY C 43rd REGIMENT This company was raised in Wilson County, NC and was enlisted there in February 1862. It was mustered in at Camp Mangum, near Raleigh April 2, 1862, for three years or the duration of the war and was assigned to the 43rd Regiment as Company C. After joining the regiment the company functioned as a part of the regiment, and its history for the remainder of the war is reported as a part of the regimental history. The information contained in the following roster of the company was compiled principally from a company muster-in and descriptive roll dated April 2, 1862, and from company muster rolls for May, 1862- February, 1864, and July, 1864-February, 1865. No company muster rolls were found for April 3-April 30, 1862; March-June 1864; and for the period after February 1865. Valuable information was obtained from primary records such as the North Carolina adjutant general's Roll of Honor, discharge certificates, medical records, prisoner of war records, and pension applications. Secondary sources such as postwar rosters and histories, cemetery records, and records of the United Daughters of the Confederacy also provided useful information.
