Wilson County, NC - Wills - Bass, Arthur-1824 File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Al Bass WILL OF ARTHUR BASS February 12, 1820 Whereas Arthur Bass being weak in body but in perfect mind and memory, thanks be to God, calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make ordain this to be my last will and testament (that is to say) In the first place, I leave to my beloved wife Mourning Bass the manor plantation whereon I now live, Except the field call Bryan field and the new house moved from over the great swamp and one cow and calf, one ewe and lamb, one sow and pigs and Three shoats and full and sufficiency and provisions for one year. During here lifetime and one coffee mill. Also I give to my beloved wife one feather bed and furniture, one small pot and skillet and Kettle. Five pewter plates one bason and one dish two chairs one butter pot. One jug and two bottles. One Flower Box, to her and her heirs forever, and one meal sifter one safe one flax wheel one pale one tub two noggins. Also I give to my son Jethro Bass five shillings. Also I give to my son Edward Bass the whole of my lands on the south side of the Great Swamp if he should have any heirs lawfully begotten of his own body. If not I give said land to my grandson Arthur Bass, son of Wright Bass, one Horse Bridle and saddle, one feather bed and furniture, one Blue Chest, one pot and skells, one large pewter dish two do. basons, three do. plates and three earthen plates two chairs three knives and forks, and one third part of my crop of all sorts, one cow and calf and two ewe and lambs and all my working tools - - Also I lend to my son Arthur Bass, the whole of my land on the north side of the great swamp during his life after his death I give said land to his sons Calvin and Soloman Bass to be divided as follows. Calvin to have the part above hog pen branch and Soloman all the lower part to them and their heirs forever. Also I give to my son Wright Bass thirty dollars and one large pot to him and his heirs forever. Also I give to my son Hosea Bass one still but wife and Edward to have the privilege of stilling their liquor in her tole free, to him and his heirs forever - - - Also I give to my Grandson Daniel Hosea one bed and furniture and heifer yearlen, to him and his heirs forever. Also I give to my grandson Theophlus Bass twenty dollars to him and his heirs forever. The whole balance of my estate I leave to be sold and after paying all my just debts and legasies I give to be divided among my living children. I constitute and appoint my friend Jacob Fulghum and my son Wright Bass to be my only and sole executors to this my last will.
