Yancey County, NC - Samuel L. Bradford Cemetery ~~~~~~~~~~ Samuel L. Bradford Cemetery Little Creek, Yancey Co., NC updated on 10/02/05 Location: Take 19W towards Burnsville, NC. Make a right onto Little Creek Road which crosses over the Cane River. Continue briefly on Little Creek Rd. for about .75 miles and then make a left onto Bradford Road. There is an old barn on the right corner as you head up Bradford Rd. Proceed up the hill for about .25 mile and on the left you will see an overgrown logging trail with a gated entrance in between a couple of homes that are close to the road. This is a private road, not fortified and overgrown in many sections. The former logging trail meanders up a hill and ends at another gate which keeps livestock. This is also private property affording beautiful views of Bald Mountain and the Bee Log Valley. Both cemeteries are enclosed with fences and are accessible by foot via a trail that begins on the left side of the knoll. You will first pass by the Edwards cemetery and as you climb up the hill you will see the Sam Bradford Cemetery with overgrown boxwood shrubs. SAMUEL L. LEWIS (double headstone) Goldman Lewis, b. 1891 – d. 1974 [s/o Robert Hiram Lewis and Bane Hensley; brother Mallie buried Old Hensley #3/Row 11 #2, Sue Emma (Bradford), b. 1897 – d. 1948 (wife; d/o Samuel and Ruhamia #1) 3. BRADFORD, Jack b. 1929 – d. 1936 ("Little Jack" died in a house fire age 5; s/o Lyde Bradford and Gladys Brinkley; grandson of Samuel L Bradford and Ruhamia Hensley #1) 4. UNMARKED GRAVE (highly suspected grave of Ishom B. Bradford) b. abt. 1870 - d. the brother of Samuel L. Bradford) 5.
