Yancey County, NC - Stanley McCormick Cemetery

STANLEY MCCORMICK CEMETERY/ (aka West Burnsville or Broyles Cemetery)  
Directions:  Turn onto Robertson Street and go to 2nd house on right.  
Walk around behind house and you are immediately at the edge of the 
cemetery.

Condition:  Covered with briars and underbrush.

1.	Ann Eliza, Dau. of P.H. & S.B. Neilson, Died Jan. 25, 1853, Age 15 ys, 
        10 mo 14 days
2.	John P. Clayton, July 25, 1855 – Nov. 19?,  1855
3.	Polly E. Ray, Wife of M. E. Ray, 6-2-1830 – 7-2-1891, Age 60Y 1M
4.	John G. Ray, 5- 21-1866 – Age 26Y
5.	Georgie B. Boone, 3-2-1893 – 11-28-1898, Age 5 years “Asleep in Jesus”
6.	Emily, Wife of J.S.Boone, 6-18-1854 – May 9, 1896 “She was the sunshine 
        of our home”

Note:  When I visited this cemetery about 8 years ago, timber had been cut and 
there were limbs on the ground but it was passable.  When I returned 3-13-2006 
the only part I could get to was the west end that borders the lawn of the house 
nearby.  The remainder was totally covered in briars and underbrush.  It was 
very near impossible to get thru to find #s 7 thru 10 or any of the graves marked 
with fieldstone.

Said to be buried here:
11.	James Monroe McClelland, 12-30-1844 – 6-26-1862.  Died in the Battle of 
        Mechanicsville, VA.  CO. C. 16th NC Regt. Commanded by John S,. McElroy 
        Son of Cynthia Ann Anderson McClelland Parrott,
12.	Robert Austin
13.	James Gerome Parrott, father of # 7 above.
14.	Cynthia Ann Anderson Parrott, W/o # James G., Mother of # 7 above
15.	John Rathbone, Jr. and possibly his wife, Sarah Furgeson Rathbone
