Yancey County, NC - Stanley McCormick Cemetery ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ STANLEY MCCORMICK CEMETERY/ (aka West Burnsville or Broyles Cemetery) Directions: Turn onto Robertson Street and go to 2nd house on right. Walk around behind house and you are immediately at the edge of the cemetery. Condition: Covered with briars and underbrush. SURNAMES: BOONE, CLAYTON, NEILSON, PARROTT, RAY, STYLES 1. Emily, Wife of J.S.Boone, 6-18-1854 – May 9, 1896 “She was the sunshine of our home” 7. C. G. Parrott, Son of J. G. & M.C. Parrott, Died 12-15-1853, 3Y 1M 8. Christenia Styles, 1815 – 12-28-1885 9. Styles, 1949 – 12-27-1880, Age 31Y Note: When I visited this cemetery about 8 years ago, timber had been cut and there were limbs on the ground but it was passable. When I returned 3-13-2006 the only part I could get to was the west end that borders the lawn of the house nearby. The remainder was totally covered in briars and underbrush. It was very near impossible to get thru to find #s 7 thru 10 or any of the graves marked with fieldstone. Said to be buried here: 11. James Monroe McClelland, 12-30-1844 – 6-26-1862.
