DAVID M.) CEMETERY: Location: 1.1 mile up Phipps Creek Road, turn left onto road # 1116 Turn left and cross the creek at 2nd driveway. Walk up thru a pasture, bearing left, to the top of steep hill and cross a fence. This is directly above Charlie Proffitt's double-wide. Condition: Fence in poor condition, grown up in weeds and littered with tree limbs. SURNAMES: RAY, GRIFFITH 1. Capt. David Ray, Co. B, 29th NC Inf. CSA No dates on stone but the 1939-40 WPA census lists his name as Capt. David M. Ray, born 1836, died 7-13-1908. 2. Joseph Belgium Ray, 2-23-1880 - 4-10-1959, S/o David & Betty Ray 3. Isaac H. Griffith, 9-22-1886 - 3-2-1956. S/o Jane Griffith, H/o Polly Ray Griffith. Polly and her grand-son died in Texas as result of fire. Both are buried in Texas. Note: There is a grave to the right of David's between Joseph and David which could be Betty. There is a baby's grave at the foot of this grave. 2 other unmarked graves. November 2001
