YANCEY COUNTY, NC - CEMETERIES - Unknown Abandoned Slave Cemetery ----¤¤¤¤---- Location: In the Bald Creek area turn onto Hardscrabble Road, just above Walking Road, turn right onto gravel road and go a short distance to a driveway on the right. Look straight ahead up the hill and the cemetery is located there. First indication was a Yucca Plant, then periwinkle that covers the ground, further on up the hill is a boxwood bush. There was also an old fence surrounding a part of the cemetery. It is adjacent to the Gibbs Cemetery. There are an unknown number of graves but it is a fairly good sized area. Condition: Very bad, littered with fallen trees. Very hard to determine where the graves are.
