YANCEY COUNTY, NC - CEMETERIES - Wheeler-Duncan Cemetery

From 19E turn onto 19-W North and go about 6 miles.  Go past Higgins and turn 
on next	gravel road to the right.  Follow this road up steep hill about 1/2 
mile to a barn at Don Renfro's.  Cemetery in directly across from barn and up 
on a steep hill.
Condition:  Poor, grown up in trees and underbrush.		

SURNAMES:  EDWARDS, DUNCAN, WHEELER, WILLIS

1.  W.G. Duncan, 7-18-1863 - 9-27-1918 
    When the roll is call up yonder, I'll be there.
    (William Gilbert Duncan, son of John & Elizabeth Edwards Duncan.  He 
    married Nancy Louvina Duncan who is buried at Watts Cemetery at Bee Log.  	
    Occupation: Merchant.  J.W.Wheeler was the informant and undertaker.   
    Yancey County Death  Cert. 1-12/652.   
    Stated burial was in family cemetery.)
2.  Cora L. Wheeler, 5-11-1893 -  1-4-1916,  21 Yrs, 7 Mos. 24 days. 
    Gone but not forgotten.  (Death Cert states date of death as 1-3-1915 - 
    Daughter of Gilbert & Vina Duncan.  Occupation: Music teacher.  Married. 
    YC death certificate 1-12/614)  (Duncan History stated that she was 
    married to George Washington Wheeler)
3.  Jane E. Duncan, 9-4-1817 - 4-20-1912, A tender mother - A faithful friend.
    (No death certificate available - Wife of George W. Duncan)
4.  J. W. Wheeler, 8-29-1876 - 11-4-1937,  A member of Free Will Baptist 
    Church for 35 years.  (John William Wheeler, Son of Jessie & Nellie Byrd 
    Wheeler.  Single. Farmer. Informant - George Wheeler.  
    YC Death Cert. 22/32) (Lawyer-**)
5.  T. S. Edwards,  Corpl. Co. G, 3rd NC Mtd. Inf. (No dates on stone) 
    (1900 YC Census gives name as Thomas and date of birth as Dec. 1846 ) 
    (Married Martha Shehan 3-17-1869.  
    He was the son of Edmond & Sarah Edwards)
6.  Loretta Willis  date of death 11-16-1965 age 75 years 
   (This is on a metal marker from Holcombe Funeral Home)  
   (YC Death Certificate 47/144 gives date of birth as 7-24-1890, 
   Daughter of John & Ella Edwards Willis - Never married.  	
   Informant was Ora Lee Willis.  Gives name of cemetery as Willis Cemetery)

7.  Theodore Silvers, 2-6-1942 - 4-11-1942, 
    Infant son of Clyde & Ruby Willis Silvers (Death Cert.)
8.  Mollie Edwards Willis, 2-16-1875 - 6-17-1958, W/o John Willis, D/o Thomas
    and Martha Shehan Edwards (Death Cert. 41/127 states Willis Cemetery)
9.  Mary Loucinda Wheeler Edwards, Sister to # 4 above. ** 
** Also Willis and Phillips buried here
