Jervis who was appointed by Thomas Wilson, Sheriff A deed from Jacob Medcalf to James Medcalf for two tracts of land was duly proved by ----- ---- witness thereto. An Instrument of Writing purporting to be the Last Will and Testament of Frederick Ledford, deceased was produced in Court by the Executor thereof. (very faint) Subscribing witness was ----- Baker. William B. Roberts vs Daniel L. McLean Olive Elkins vs D. L. McLean James Howell returns his road order. Ordered by court that David Willis oversee in his stead. Tuesday April 5, 1836 Present and Presiding: John Hensley, William Deyton, Spencer Rice It appearing to the satisfaction of the court that Charles Tipton who has heretofore been appointed guardian of the minor heirs of John Bennett, deceased. On motion of widow, ordered by court that Samuel Byrd be appointed guardian of said minor heirs instead of said Tipton. Who appeared in court and gave bond in the sum of 480.00 with Willie Tipton, security. Heirs are known by names of David, John, Morgan, William and Seaburn. William Wardroupe vs William B. Barnet State vs Charles Tipton and others Debt Court adjourned Wednesday April 6, 1836 Present & Presiding: Thomas Loyd, Joseph L. Ray, D. Carter Robert Chambers one of the coroners for said county returned the proceedings of a jury of Inquisition held over the body of Cinda Lewis, an infant of Milly Lewis. Robert Chambers is to be allowed 3.00 for his services in this case. Daniel Angel is to be allowed 3.80 for his services in this case. Ordered that Uriah Honeycutt oversee the road from the forks of the road below Joseph Tuckers to the mouth of Brummits Crick and that all hands living in the bounds of Julius Robesons work on said road. Ordered that Charles Baker and Charles Hill oversee the road from the top of the Iron Mountain at the Low Gap as -------- surveyed and marked it out to where it intersects the old road at the foot of said mountain and that all hand belonging to Cain Creek Company work under Charles Baker six good faithful days and that the Rock Creek Company work under Charles Hill until the road is completed. John Hensley came into court and says that he believes the lands belonging to James R. Love and Company in the bounds of Yancey County is worth $5000.00 and Said Love being in court consented to its value and consented for it to be taxed accordingly. William B. Anderson vs John Mainey For reasons shown, Henry Woody is to be excused from working on public roads. State of NC to use of Jacob Ellis vs James B. Mackelroy be appointed Administrator.
