YANCEY COUNTY, NC - LETTERS - M. T. Byrd to Myra A. Hensley --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Wilhite N.C. Sept 30 '94 (1894) Mrs. M. A. Hensley Dear Sister I drop you a few lines to let you know that we are all very well here. And sorry to say that mother is dead. I guess you have received the news before now--but for fear you have not--I write it. She died July 28 last. She had been sick one week of Flux. We had Dr. Lewis to wait on her and did what we could but on the 9th day of her sickness she died and was buried the next day. We were sorry to lose her but we could not help it. Through consent--C. H. Byrd administered on her personal property and sold it all except the growing crop the am't of the sale $109. But ther is no disposal made of father's real estate yet. The children all say to writ to them and let them know how you are getting on. We received the letter you wrote mother last some time after she died--was sorry that it did not come in time. Mc I never have got a word from you yet--so write me a long letter. Crops are very good here and we have plenty to live on but money is scarce. Yours as ever M. T.
