YANCEY COUNTY, NC - LETTERS - Isaac M. Byrd to Myra Byrd Hensley --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Armstrong, N.C. Oct 4, 1890 My dear Aunt Mira In writing to you I feel ashamed of my negligence and failure to write earlier, but better one than never probably if you will allow the expression... I received your letter about 3 or 4 months ago, and was glad to hear that you all were so happy then and hope you are still enjoying the luxury of good health & happiness. But if I write you an interesting letter I must tell something new if I can But I don't guess I know any-thing you care about hearing except I tell you that Your Father & Mother are still alive and having a tolerably easy time of it. I suppose their farm will yield enough this year to support them another. They have it rented and do not have to till it themselves. I will try to make you glad by telling you that all the connection in general is well as far as I now. I know you are anxious to get those photographs of your brothers and sisters but I am sorry to say that I have, in vane, tried to get them. I am away from home at present and cannot get them but I shall make another effort. As to your brothers two of them are gone from here and I cannot get theirs. One of them I never saw but once viz Uncle William. He was at home here in 1888 but he went to his home in a short time and wrote us two or three letters. In the last which was received over a year ago, he stated that he would move 100 miles west of where he then was then which was in Middle Tennessee, but he has not written since so we do not know where he is. Uncle E. K. Byrd is in Texas. I suppose I have never met him but a few times I am in McDowal Co, N.C. teaching school I came from home last Sunday so I know a little of what I have written at the least. I have been here six weeks in all and as above stated shall stay 2 1/2 months longer. If you choose to write to me address letters to Wilhite, Yancey Co., N. C. for I can get them from there. Please excuse bad writing & etc. Yours affectionately Isaac M. Byrd ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
