MINNIE GARLAND ALLEN

BURNSVILLE – Minnie Garland Allen, 85, of West Main Street, died Sunday, May 
20, 2001. A native of Mitchell County, she was the wife of the late Oscar 
Allen. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Charles and Sidney Allen.
Survivors include four sons, Bobby Allen of Chattahoochee, FL, Clifton Allen 
of Mars Hill, and Clinton and Raymond Allen of Green Mountain; five daughters, 
Jenny Rogers of Honea Path, SC, Leona Thompson of Asheville, Brenda Tipton and 
Carolyn Tipton of Green Mountain, and Pat Peterson of Burnsville; 19 
grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Holcombe 
Brothers Funeral Home. Revs. Scot Garland and Blaine Whitson officiated. 
Burial was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Jacks Creek Baptist Church 
Cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral
