SPRUCE PINE - Chloe Byrd Dale, 70, of Dale Road, died Friday, July 15, 2005 in
an Asheville hospital. A native of Yancey County, she was the daughter of the
late Joseph Frank and Louenia Bennett Byrd, and the wife of the late Hubert
Dale. She was a member of the Grassy Creek Baptist Church and had attended
Mayland Community College.

Survivors include a daughter, Jacqueline D. Dayton of Marion; a sister,
Lillian Murphy of Pickens, SC; a brother, Grant Byrd of Pickens, SC; two half
brothers, Frank Byrd of Spruce Pine and Larry Michael Byrd of Maiden; and two
grandaughters. 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Grindstaff Memorial Chapel
of Webb Funeral Home. Revs. Jerry Dayton and Dallas Renfro officiated. Burial
was in Grassy Creek Memorial Gardens. The family received friends from 6-8
p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of
Mitchell County, P.O. Box 38, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
